France-S Fast Studio will open an office in Angoulôme and create up to 70 jobs
France's Fost Studio is to open a new office in Angoulême, one of the country's main animation hubs. The new studio is scheduled to open by December 1, and is set to create up to 70 jobs.
Based in Paris, Fost specializes in service work for 2d animation and pre-production for cgi. Its credits include the Ernest and Celestine series, Cartoon Saloon's Wolfwalkers, another upcoming feature from the Irish studio, and the upcoming Jiro Taniguchi adaptation The Summit of the Gods.
The Angoulême studio is due to work on projects including the feature The Nazis, My Father and Me, the short film Hurikan, and the series Tobie Lolness and The Baker Street Four.
The studio grew out of an in-house unit at Folivari, the French studio behind Netflix's Pachamama and the César-winning The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales, among other productions. The Fost team has worked on many Folivari projects, both before and after their launch as an independent studio in 2018. Fost co-founders Damien Brunner and Thibaut Ruby both retain posts at Folivari.
Angoulême and the surrounding Charente department is the country's second-largest animation hub (after Paris). It is home to more than 30 animation studios, alongside leading schools and many other media and entertainment companies. The region benefits from generous government incentives.
