HBO Max and Cartoon Network Expand Original Animation Slots with "Driftwood" and "Invincible Fight Girl"
HBO Max and Cartoon Network Studios have announced two new kids and family animated features.
Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming service HBO Max and its studio Cartoon Network announced two new projects late last week. One is a 90-minute space adventure feature titled Driftwood, and the other is an action-comedy series called Invincible Fight Girl.
Driftwood - executive produced by Victor Courtright (Aquaman: King of Atlantis) - is billed as "an original animated space opera with laughter, heart and adventure for the whole family." The film follows the journey of a mouse-like creature named Clover who must defeat the villainous ruler Thorn in order to save her home from a toxic fuel source. Along the way, Clover finds companions named Marigold and Caspian, and together the three defend the forest at the edge of infinity.
Invincible Fight Girl - From first-time executive producer and creator Juston Gordon-Montgomery ("DC Super Hero Girls"), "Invincible Fight Girl" is set in a world where wrestling is not just sports entertainment but a way of life It is an action comedy set in a world where wrestling is not just a sports entertainment, but a way of life itself. The main character is Andi, a young girl who dreams of becoming the greatest wrestler of all time. With the help of her cynical retired wrestler Aunt P, Andi calls herself "Fight Girl" and begins training. She is also supported by Mikey, an aspiring wrestling analyst, and Craig, a schemer who is always looking for an angle.
In a release, Sam Register, president of Cartoon Network Studios and Warner Bros. Animation, said: [Cartoon Network Studios is a creator-driven studio and these two projects tell bold and original stories underscores our commitment to being a home for artists. Victor Courtright will create imaginative worlds in "Driftwood" that will transport viewers to a whole new universe. And Juston Gordon-Montgomery has put together some of the most engaging, aspirational, and simply funny ideas in animated children's series with "Invincible Fight Girl."
