Mascha Halberstad, director of "Oink" and co-producer of "No Dogs or Italians Allowed," wins Cartoon Film Award

Cartoon Movie 2023 came to a close on Thursday, and the Bordeaux-based event awarded its latest honors, called Cartoon Tribute.

The winners in the three categories of European Animation Producer, Director, and Distributor/Sales Agent were chosen by a vote of 876 attendees at this year's event.

The Producer of the Year award was shared among seven production companies that co-produced the animated feature film "No Dogs or Italians Allowed," directed by Alain Uguette. The stop-motion film was produced by Les Films du Tambour de Soie, Vivement Lundi! Foliascope, Graffiti Film of Italy, Nadasdy Film of Switzerland, Ocidental Filmes of Portugal, and Lux Fugit Film of Belgium.

Already an important figure at this year's Cartoon Movie, where her next film, "The Fox and the Hare Save the Forest," was screened, Mascha Halberstad was named Cartoon Director of the Year. Halberstad's debut feature, Oink, opened the Generation K+ section of the 2022 Berlin International Film Festival and was nominated for Best Feature Film at the European Film Awards.

Paris-based KMBO, a French distributor of animated films such as "Amazing Maurice," "Moonbound," and "Mavka: Song of the Forest," was also named best distributor of the year.
