Ireland's Lighthouse Studios Promotes Gilly Fogg to Creative Head
Lighthouse Studios has promoted Gilly Fogg to head creative. She will manage the young Irish studio's creative team and oversee content for both original IP and service productions.
Fogg joined Lighthouse upon its launch in 2017, initially serving as the studio's series director before becoming showrunner in February of this year. She directed her first series, Amazon Prime's "Bug Diaries," and oversaw testing to acquire service projects like Netflix's "The Cuphead Show."
Fogg started as a puppeteer, then became a stop-motion animator, eventually directing episodes of the British hit "Bob the Builder," before moving to series directing at DHX Media, where she directed "Wishenpoof," "Space Ranger Roger," and "Animal Mechanicals."
At Lighthouse, he directed an unannounced miniseries for Global Streamer and is the showrunner for another series currently in development. He has also written an original work "exploring intergenerational relationships in a changing world," worked with the showrunner on the studio's first adult title, and directed an in-house short film initiative.
Lighthouse was founded as a joint venture between Canada's Mercury Filmworks (animated Kid Cosmic, Hilda) and Ireland's Cartoon Saloon (Wolfwalkers, Breadwinner). Like Cartoon Saloon, Lighthouse is based in the town of Kilkenny and focuses on 2D animation, including Amazon's "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and Warner Bros. Animation's "Little Ellen." [Managing Director Claire Finn said in a statement:]
Since taking the reins of the studio in 2018, I am proud of the level of talent we have attracted and the culture we have created that gives our team an environment in which to thrive, and Gilly is a Light played a major role in taking the House to the next level. We have a strong portfolio of service work with a major launch in Spring 2022 and are going from strength to strength with growing original IP projects.
