Oscar competing features "Memoirs of a Snail" and "Chicken for Linda" now streaming for free with an animated showcase
Animation Showcase (TAS), a free streaming platform for animation professionals, showcases 31 out of 2 qualified features at this year's Oscar race.
Adam Elliot's r-rated stop-motion feature Memoir of A Snail will be available on the platform throughout the holiday season. The film, which recently won the Best Film award at the bfi London Film Festival, was released in theaters in the US by IFC Films last month.
The Australian indie animation feature tells the story of Grace Pudel, a lonely misfit with an affinity for collecting ornamental snails, who is separated from her twin brother Gilbert at a young age, which causes her to fall into a spiral of anxiety and anxiety. Her life changes after she meets an elderly eccentric woman named Pinky who is full of grit and desire for life.
Also available is the French animation feature Chicken for Linda! It won the French César Award for Best Animated Feature earlier this year. Directed by Chiara Marta and Sebastian Laudenbach, it is a husband-and-wife team that has worked together in a number of live-action and animated films in the past. Malta is best known for its 2019 live-action film "Simple Women" (co-written with Laudenbach), while Laudenbach is a well-known animated filmmaker who won an Annecy Jury Award for his feature-length debut "Girl Without Hands" in 2016.
Movie Synopsis:
Paulette felt guilty after unfairly punishing her daughter Linda and did anything to make up for it to her. Linda immediately asks for a meal of chili and chicken, which reminds her of a dish made by her father. But as the general strike closes stores all over town and pushes people into the streets, this innocent request quickly leads to a ridiculous series of events that get out of control as Paulette keeps her promise and does everything she can to find a chicken for Linda.
