Trailer Released for Netflix's Charming Holiday Film “That Christmas”
“That Christmas” is the second animated feature from British producer Locksmith Animation, whose last film, “Lon's Gone Wrong,” was distributed by Disney in 2021.Released on Netflix on December 4, “That Here's the trailer for “Christmas”:
I saw the film a while back and I'm happy to report that it is a very engaging film that effectively conveys the warm and fuzzy emotions of the Christmas season. As you can see from the trailer, the film does not look or feel like the tone of a big-budget CG feature produced by an American studio. Its Britishness comes from leading British screenwriter Richard Curtis (“Four Weddings and a Funeral,” “Notting Hill,” “Love Actually”), who originally created “That Christmas” as a children's book series, He adapted the screenplay himself, along with Peter Souter.
These non-Hollywood qualities attracted director Simon Otto to the project. It's not your classic Hollywood animated movie plot where one main character goes on a journey,” he said in a press note. It's not a classic Hollywood animated film plot where one character goes on a journey,” he said in the film's press notes. Because we're doing something structurally different. We are in a different world. (Otto, who makes his feature directorial debut with this film, is an industry veteran who was the head of character animation for the “How to Train Your Dragon” series.)
The film's story is about a young man who is a young man who is a young man who is a young man who is a young man who is a young man who is a young man who is a young man who is a young man.
Each story takes place in a small town around the Suffolk coast of England, where a once-in-a-century blizzard threatens to cancel Christmas. The production design, directed by Justin Hutchinson-Chatburn, is rooted in a kind of idealized realism, emphasizing the comfort and charm of geography. In a press note, Hutchinson-Chatburn said, “I wanted to create a world where the audience didn't have to do any processing.” Like The Vicar of Dibley and Four Weddings and a Funeral, it needs to envelop the audience. They all have that kind of coziness.
DNEG was the animation partner for the film and Kapil Sharma was the animation director for the film. Others are Ashley Bodie (story), Doug Ikeler (VFX supervisor), Mike Redman (art director), Uwe Heidschetter (lead character designer), Justin Hutchinson-Chatburn (production designer), Sim Evan Jones (editor) are among the main credits.
John Powell wrote the music and Ed Sheeran provided the music. The film is produced by Nicole P. Harron and Adam Tandy, and executive produced by Mary Coleman, Natalie Fisher, Julie Lockhart, Elizabeth Murdock, Bonnie Arnold, Lara Bray, Sarah Smith, Rebecca Cobb, Richard Curtis and Colin Hopkins.
