Disney Movie opens new animation / VFX Studio in Mumbai

The Walt Disney Company Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is expanding its international footprint by opening a new facility in Mumbai, India. Kiran'KP' Prasad, former studio head in DNEG Bangalore and Chennai, will lead the studio and report to Janet Lewin, Senior vp and General Manager of ILM.

ILM's Mumbai facility will operate a complete vfx and animation service pipeline, working on content for the local market as a means to gain access to the Southeast Asian talent pool. The studio will work on vfx and animation projects of various sizes and sizes for television, film and streaming, as well as face-to-face attractions.

ILM Mumbai will join other bases in San Francisco, Vancouver, London, Singapore and Sydney, with the latter being the world's largest film producer. It is the company's newest base, which opened in 2019. Its employees will join a global workforce that is expected to grow more than 2,500 employees soon. The company will hire leadership, technology, support, production, and artist positions in the coming months. Details of the position can be found on the Careers page of ILM.

In a release accompanying the announcement, Lewin said:

Prasad added:
