'South Park' and 'Beavis And Butt-Head' Libraries Join Growing Paramount+ Slate
ViacomCBS has fleshed out its strategy for its streaming service Paramount+, which has been in existence for a year. At its core, the company reaffirmed its tried-and-true animation IP.
The parent company has doubled down on its branding by ditching the ViacomCBS name and renaming it Paramount Global. It has also announced that it will offer streaming services in more than 60 markets by the end of the year, whether it is Paramount+ or SkyShowtime. (SkyShowtime is a joint platform with Comcast that will launch in several European countries.)
Accompanying this news, Paramount Global announced new shows and catalog titles for Paramount+: all previous episodes of "South Park" and "Beavis and Butt-Head" will appear on the platform, along with new seasons and movies The new season and movies will include. Sponge Bob, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will also join the lineup.
Meanwhile, in the United States, Paramount Pictures films will stream on Paramount+ after their theatrical release as of 2024. New "Sponge Bob" and "Paw Patrol" films and original Paramount Animation films will be eligible; NBCUniversal's Peacock and Universal recently announced a similar arrangement.
