While the first half of 2024 holds little promise for animated feature films at the box office, one of the most popular anime franchises is preparing to weather the drought with its first feature film adaptation. Today, Crunchyroll released the English-dubbed trailer for "Spy x Family Code": it will be released in the US on April 19.

Sony-owned distributors Crunchyroll and Funimation are proving that the recent box office success of animated feature films from popular IPs is not an anomaly, and that U.S. audiences are showing up to see their favorite franchises on the big screen.Crunchyroll and Funimation distributed films such as "Demon Slayer": Kimezuno Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Train ($49.5 million), "Dragon Ball Super" ($38.1 million), "Jutsu Kaiten 0" ($34.5 million), "My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission" ( ($13.3 million), and "One Piece Film: Red" ($12.8 million) all set franchise records in the U.S. over the past four years.

It will be interesting to see how audiences react to the first theatrical feature film in the hugely popular "Spy x Family" series. Although this franchise is much newer than the above franchises, expectations for this film are high and should be high.
