-PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie- Review Roundup: An aesthetic step forward for Nick's hit franchise.
The Dog Sequel to Paramount Pictures and the Nickelodeon movie Paw Patrol: The Mighty movie hit theaters this week, with critics saying that from the multi-billion-dollar franchise
Cal Brunker, who directed the first film, also directed the sequel and co-wrote the screenplay with Bob Barlen. Mikros Animation did the animation of the Mighty Movie, most often enthusiastically praised the virtues of cinema. It was a big year for Paramount, Nickelodeon and Mikros, who co・starred in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
The official synopsis of the film is:
When Magic Meteor Crash lands in Adventure City, it gives PAW Patrol puppies a superpower and turns them into mighty puppies. For Skye, the smallest member of the team, her new power is the realization of dreams. But things get worse when puppy archrival Humdinger gets out of jail and teams up with a mad scientist to steal superpowers for 2 villains. As the fate of Adventure City hangs in balance, the mighty puppy must stop the Supervillain before it's too late, and Skye must learn that even the smallest puppy can make the biggest difference.
Here's what critics say about PAW Patrol:
Variety's Courtney Howard says the animation in Mighty Movie is a step up from the first movie:
The action sequence and its aesthetics have evolved. The scene showing the team acting as a well-oiled machine is exhilarating, but it pulls the double duty narrative to further propel the character and its conflict...The elements of fur, water, laser, fire and clouds are visually dazzling, but the climactic face-to-face between the protagonist of the puppy and its enemies feels electrically charged in the hands of these competent animators.
Hollywood Reporter Frank Scheck was also impressed with the movie's visuals, but says the story suffers too much action
Unfortunately, much of the movie's running time is focused on adult live-action superheroes rather than heartwarming stories like this. It's taken up with something like the typical heart-numbing action sequence that cram the franchise. Some of them are pretty spectacular animations, such as Sky crash-landing a faulty plane on a city street cleared for her by a fellow puppy, or a chase scene where the puppy is almost trampled by a new, giant-sized handinger. But while the frenzied mayhem gets boring with its repeatability, the kids are already jumping on candy and soda, and they probably don't care at all.
In her New York Times Review, Claire Schaefer writes:
The animation is cute, but the corners are cut, and the cap
Alejandra Martinez At The Austin Chronicle said:
Existential emotional questions aside, the animation is well done, colorful, and fun enough to keep kids and adults properly happy. It's also very funny and clever about how to use the ensemble cast (Kardashian and other familiar new voice hosts are great especially, Taraji P. Henson). Henson as the new Villain Dr. Victoria Vance seems to enjoy so much leaning into the role of a goofy mad scientist.
In his review for Mercury News, Randy Myers predicts the film will be a hit with franchise fans:
Foot Patrol: The Mighty movie is well animated and reminds children to celebrate their qualities and powers from within. You can also use the following methods: It won't win an award, but it's sure to please the target audience.
